Curing heart disease – Practical medical solutions

(NaturalHealth365) The Centers for Disease Control says that heart disease is now the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States, claiming roughly 610,000 lives a year. According to holistic cardiologist Dr. Jack Wolfson, ‘the vast majority of these deaths are completely avoidable.’

Discover a natural way to avoid heart disease. Dr. Wolfson points out that cardiovascular disease stems from poor nutrition and exposure to toxins, which can easily be corrected with the right information.

On the next NaturalHealth365 Talk Hour, Jonathan Landsman and Dr. Wolfson will talk about natural ways to reverse the signs (and symptoms) of heart disease. If you’re fed up with the conventional ‘sick care’ approach to illness – don’t miss this empowering program about how to protect your heart and improve the quality of your life.

Heart disease warning about stents and angiogram procedures

Generally speaking, clogged arteries, a major factor in heart disease, are often treated with stents – small mesh tubes – inserted into weak or narrow arteries with the use of an imaging technique called an angiogram. Conventionally-trained doctors commonly use stents and angiograms to treat stable angina – defined as chest pain upon activity.

Yet, Dr. Wolfson says that only 3 percent of patients with stable angina receive the appropriate risk/benefit information beforehand. When patients are properly informed of the risks of stents – which include allergic reactions, blood clots, heart attack, infection, seizures and strokes – they are over ten times more likely to refuse the procedure and seek safer (healthier) alternatives.

Although stents can help reduce pain, Wolfson says stents do nothing to decrease chances of heart attack and death – making them a source of “false reassurance” to patients. In addition, Dr. Wolfson warns us about other unnecessary and damaging tests and procedures, including CT scans – which deliver “massive” amounts of radiation – and pre-test injections, which contain nuclear, radioactive material.

The LDL cholesterol controversy: Size does matter

The conventional medical wisdom holds that LDL cholesterol, or low-density lipoprotein, is “bad,” unhealthy, and a contributor to clogged arteries and heart disease. This is not necessarily true – LDL serves a purpose, including transporting cholesterol, beneficial compounds such as CoQ10, and fat-soluble vitamins throughout the body for storage or utilization for vital energy.

Although LDL is somewhat correlated with heart disease risk, Wolfson reports that it is the size of the particles – not the concentration – that affect LDL’s impact on heart health. The smaller the particles are, the higher the risk of coronary artery disease – not surprising, in light of the fact that smaller particles can more easily cross the lining of coronary arteries.

In addition, if LDL particle numbers are too high, they can be managed without the use of toxic, dangerous drugs. In fact, there are many safe and natural nutritional supplements like berberine – that can reduce LDL particle numbers by increasing LDL receptors in the liver and inhibiting re-absorption of cholesterol in the gut.
