Curing dementia with proper testing procedures and effective therapies

(Naturalhealth365) Every three seconds, someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or some other form of dementia. Now, the sixth leading cause of death in the nation, Alzheimer’s is a cruel and debilitating condition affecting over 5.7 million Americans – and (conventionally speaking) ‘there is no cure.’

According to Thomas Lewis, PhD – noted authority on dementia – describes existing medical treatment for Alzheimer’s disease as an “abject failure.” And, when it comes to the causes of these degenerative brain health issues, Dr. Lewis maintains that Western medicine has it all wrong!

Discover a much better way to effectively eliminate the threat of dementia. On the next NaturalHealth365 Talk Hour, Jonathan Landsman and Thomas Lewis, PhD, discuss a groundbreaking integrative approach to Alzheimer’s disease, revealing the real causes of the condition, while highlighting cutting-edge techniques for early diagnosis and drug-free treatment.

If you are concerned about Alzheimer’s disease or any other form of dementia striking you or someone you love – or, if you simply want to know how to better protect your brain – you won’t want to miss this lifesaving program.

Amyloid plaque may NOT be the cause of dementia – and, may even protect the brain

Western medicine considers the accumulation of amyloid protein plaques in the brain to be a classic hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease.

The disease is believed to develop when neurofibrillary snarls of amyloid protein, or “tau tangles,” accumulate between the brain nerve cells, interfering with function and cognition. But some researchers and integrative healthcare providers, including Dr. Lewis, maintain that Alzheimer’s disease is not caused by amyloid plaque buildup at all – and speculate that the plaques may even have beneficial aspects.

Dr. Lewis points out that some people who die from Alzheimer’s disease don’t exhibit any amyloid plaques, while others – who died with no signs of dementia or cognitive impairment – were found to have major accumulations.

Citing published studies from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Lewis maintains that amyloid plaques are merely an immune response – and may actually protect the brain.

There is a powerful financial motive for making amyloid plaques the culprit in Alzheimer’s disease, Dr. Lewis notes. To date, the NIH has funded $100 million for research focused on amyloid protein – with the pharmaceutical industry developing an array of drugs to combat amyloid plaques.

The problem, according to Dr. Lewis, is that these drugs simply don’t work.

Meanwhile, opposing research – studies that don’t corroborate the dangers of amyloid plaques – tends to disappear. “They get shut down for lack of funding,” Dr. Lewis explains.

Alzheimer’s disease stems from many factors ignored by Western medicine

If amyloid plaque doesn’t cause Alzheimer’s disease, what does?

At the root of Alzheimer’s disease, says Dr. Lewis, is a loss of homeostasis, or internal balance. Whether indicated by obesity, heart disease, metabolic syndrome, glaucoma, macular degeneration or a number of other unhealthy conditions, loss of homeostasis seems to “open the door” to Alzheimer’s disease.

Of course, toxicity, stress, poor nutrition and insufficient sleep can all contribute to the development of Alzheimer’s disease as well.

Noting that 95 percent of Americans are deficient in vitamin D, Dr. Lewis reports that a shortage of this indispensable nutrient can be a factor in the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

And systemic inflammation – a sign that the immune system is deactivated – can also be a tipoff to impending Alzheimer’s disease.

Finally, infection by parasites (toxoplasmosis) can play a role.

When it comes to early detection of Alzheimer’s disease – an important component of effective treatment – Dr. Lewis regards the eye as a powerful diagnostic tool.

Calling the eye a “surrogate for the brain,” Dr. Lewis reports that biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease may appear in the lens and retina of the eye – long before symptoms emerge.

This week’s guest: Thomas Lewis, PhD – one of the featured speakers in the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Summit

Thomas Lewis, PhD is an Inorganic and Physical Chemist with degrees from (MIT) Massachusetts Institute of Technology and (WPI) Worcester Polytechnic Institute. As the founder of the RealHealth companies including RealHealth Innovations, his work is based on the work of Dr. Clement L. Trempe and Dr. Kilmer McCully. These clinicians are pioneers in systemic chronic diseases, disease detection using ocular biomarkers, germ theory, inflammatory diseases, and micronutrient balance in immune health.

In addition to obtaining a PhD, Dr. Lewis has training from the Harvard School of Public Health in Toxicology, Industrial Hygiene, and a certificate from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Massachusetts in Industrial Hygiene. He is a frequent presenter at scientific and medical conferences and has published scientific papers. Dr. Lewis holds patents (pending) on novel approaches to treating cancer and methods and approaches for treating chronic diseases of aging including Alzheimer’s disease and macular degeneration. In addition, he has patents pending on a new risk calculator for chronic disease which he has trademarked “chronic disease temperature(tm).”
