The wrong foods can trigger asthma and food allergies
Chicken nuggets, French fries, candy disguised as fruit, sweetened breakfast cereals, fast food burgers, mac and cheese, soda – sadly, for many children, these are the staples of their diet, beginning at a shockingly young age. I know it’s true because I talk to so many kids – on a weekly basis! (I hope they’re reading this article)
Highly processed foods and junk food diets – full of harmful chemicals – have been linked to the development of ADHD, autism, depression and even, later in life, to Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive disorders.
Simply put, unhealthy foods have an impact on the brain (and emotions) – early in life. In fact, many integrative healthcare professionals believe it’s a major contributing factor to poor academic performance within the U.S. school system – compared to most other developed nations. Several studies have found poor nutrition early in life results in poor memory skills and lower IQ in school-aged children.
Not only are the chemicals in processed foods putting your child at risk, both now and throughout his or her lifetime, but even the introduction of certain foods too early can damage the digestive system, making our kids more susceptible to chronic illness throughout their lifetime. For example, we now know that the unique foundation of microbes – in the digestive tract – (as early as age three) have a tremendous influence over immunity and overall wellbeing.
Building a healthy digestive system: the right nutrition at the right time
Parents of young children often find very little information available on how to meet the specific nutritional needs of a developing child in a way that promotes digestive health and reduces the risk of allergies, asthma and other chronic disease. Most end up feeding their child as if he or she were an adult, introducing the wrong foods at the wrong time, and setting up a disastrous cycle of bad health.
On the next NaturalHealth365 Talk Hour, you’ll discover:
- Why nutritional needs vary as a child develops
- How to introduce new foods to promote good digestive health
- How poor gut health can trigger chronic disease symptoms
- When to introduce suspected allergenic foods plus much more!
