5 tips to effectively lower high blood pressure with aromatherapy
(NaturalHealth365) According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), roughly 70 million American adults experience high blood pressure. Do you suffer from hypertension? This health issue is very sneaky because a lot of the times, people do not experience symptoms or signs of it. Yet, it can be deadly in the long-term.
A lot of doctors will recommend “lifestyle changes” such as a healthier diet, regular exercise, maintaining healthy weight, in addition to medication. But if you want to go above and beyond, using the healing properties of essential oil remedies can bring great results in lowering high blood pressure.
5 tips to lower high blood pressure using essential oils
Tip #1: Inhale the aroma of lavender oil
Using lavender oil in aromatherapy helps to balance emotions and soothe the body. The aroma from this incredible oil also relaxes and balances the nervous system. Consequently, it finds a broad use in treating nervous disorders, depression and unbalanced emotions.
Exposure to the sweet aroma of lavender oil triggers a positive mental energy, which in effect soothes stressed behaviors and lowers high blood pressure.
Tip #2: Use sweet marjoram and ylang-ylang
Inhaling the aroma of sweet marjoram relieves lethargy, nervous exhaustion and uplifts the body. It calms the mind from excessive thinking, balances the emotions and induces a self-relaxation in the body.
The product has a spicy herbaceous fragrance, and effectively lowers blood pressure even when inhaled individually. Ylang-ylang is equally a soothing essential oil that has a calming nature and promotes sleep. When inhaled, the essential oil relieves nervous tension thus lowering high blood pressure.
Tip #3: Blend essential oils
Blending essential oils can be a powerful way of lowering high blood pressure. The essential oil blend recommended for this is made by mixing 1 drop of lavender, 1 drop of ylang-ylang and 1 drop of bergamot. A blend made by mixing 1 drop each of lavender, frankincense and sweet marjoram is equally effective.
Add the mixture into a bowl containing steaming water and inhale the aroma by taking deep breaths. Your head should be covered with a soft towel to avoid scalding from the steaming water. Try this technique on a daily basis especially in the evening before going to bed.
Tip #4: Apply essential oils salve
Mixing a few essential oils with coconut oil or olive oil as the carrier oil produces an effective blend for lowering blood pressure. The carrier oil is made by mixing 1 cup of coconut oil, 1 cup of pure olive oil and 5 table spoons of organic bee wax. Simmer the mixture in boiling water until all the contents melt and set it aside to cool.
The salve consists of 1 ounce of the carrier oil, 15 drops each of rosemary, marjoram, cypress, frankincense and 30 drops of ylang-ylang. To apply the salve, rub the cooled salve on the reflex points of your body such as over the heart, between the fingers and on the soles of the feet twice a day.
Tip #5: Massage With essential oils
When applying oils to the body, they enter the blood stream through the sweat glands from which they restore distorted blood vessels. An effective high blood pressure massage blend can be made by mixing 2 drops of lavender, 2 drops of sweet marjoram, and 1 drop of neroli with a carrier oil of choice. Use 15ml of carrier oil.
Alternatively, another blend can be made by mixing 2 drops of frankincense, 2 drops of bergamot and 1 drop of ylang-ylang with 15ml of carrier oil. Massage the mixture gently on the body after taking a bath to help lower your blood pressure. These oils also help to relieve stress and create a deep sleep.
By the way, this is a perfect technique to do right before going to bed after a long day.
What makes essential oils so effective?
Essential oils enter through the bloodstream by diffusion through the lungs or through the sweat glands. These oils lower the blood pressure by gradually dilating constricted arteries – which usually force the heart to exert more pressure when pumping blood.
They also reduce emotional stress, and are excellent antioxidants that help to lower oxidative stress. But, above all else, make sure to take your doctor’s advice.
It’s amazing what these powerful oils can do to help us experience healing in our bodies. Try one of the mentioned techniques and experience the positive difference today.
